A Bite of History: How Nachos Started

Nachos didn’t come from a test kitchen—they started with kindness and creativity. In 1943, Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya was working at the Victory Club in Piedras Negras, Mexico, when a group of hungry military wives stopped by after hours. Thinking fast, he cut up tortillas, added cheese and jalapeños, and baked them. The women loved it.

He called his quick creation Nacho’s Especiales. From that spontaneous moment, a global comfort food was born. Every November 6, nacho lovers unite to celebrate.

Why Felipe’s Nachos Stand Out

Felipes Nachos

At Felipe’s, nachos are more than chips and cheese—they’re a celebration of flavor, freshness, and family. As a New Orleans–based, family-owned restaurant, we take pride in cooking everything from scratch daily.

Here’s what makes our nachos special:

🧀 Scratch-Made Everything

We make our tortilla chips fresh and melt our Monterey Jack cheese to perfection. Our queso is made in-house, never from a bag or mix. That’s the Felipe’s difference.

🌶 Made Your Way

Want something classic? Try our Monterey Jack Nachos, layered with three slices of gooey, melted cheese.
Craving something saucier? Go for our Queso Nachos, smothered in creamy, made-from-scratch queso that people can’t stop talking about.

💚 Rooted in Real Community

Our New Orleans roots keep us inspired. The rhythm, flavor, and hospitality of this city shape how we welcome guests and craft every dish.
