The Center treats more than 1,100 children each year. Manning Family Children’s also treats more Louisiana children with cancer than all other facilities in the state combined.
Its team cares for children with leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, sickle cell anemia, hemophilia, bleeding disorders, and other childhood cancers and blood disorders. The Center also provides hematopoietic stem cell transplant services and participates in clinical and basic research related to childhood cancer and blood disorders.
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders has the largest group of physicians and nurses in the Gulf South dedicated exclusively to pediatric hematology and oncology.
Children receive support from a comprehensive team that can include pediatric oncologists, hematologists, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, dietitians, therapists, and other pediatric specialists.
This collaborative approach recognizes that childhood cancer care involves more than treating a disease. Children and their families also need emotional support, practical resources, and compassionate people beside them throughout their journey.
